For this project we had to re-create 3 album covers from the 60's, 70's and 80's. At the beginning I wasn't too sure if I was going to like and enjoy this project because I didn't know too much about them times but ones I started my research it didn't seem too bad. Soon after the project began my camera broke so I had to send it off to get it repaired and in this time I had to find a replacement. I used my phone until finally I got to borrow a camera off college for a week.
This project was mainly research based in my opinion, we had to look into the different times(60's, 70's and 80's), bands/singers, artists of the album covers. From this research we has to get some ideas on what we wanted our re-created album cover to look like. We had to make sure out album covers related and we had to be able to say how we got to these ideas and how they go with the bands we have chosen.
I enjoyed planning my final shoots and shooting them, because I felt that near the end off the project when it comes to our final images that it was pretty open. So we could photograph what ever we wanted as long as we could make it relate and fit to what we was doing.
I did not enjoy doing some of the research at the beginning when I had to decided what band and album to pick I found that really difficult because I wanted it to be something I was familiar with so that I already had an idea of the music and what the band was like for each one. I found when doing my research it was all dugs, sex or piece and hippies. There was no in-between you was raver one or the other, but all the bands I chose was rocky/punk bands, so they where all pretty dark or sad.
I learnt a lot about manipulating light by using a reflector which I did in my Eye Shoot for the Guns And Roses album cover. I found this really interesting and felt like it really helped enhance my photos and make them that little brighter and to be able to direct the light where I wanted it was good.
I have also leant a little about taking photos at night, which I did not get to do in this project as my camera broke but i have looked into it and i will definitely be giving it a go in the near future because I think it will be so interesting and that i could get some really nice photographs.
If I could go back and change anything and if my camera didn't brake I would definitely go out and try do some more interdependent shoots relating to the project and try to be more creative and impermanent. I think that with my camera braking hasn't definitely held me back a little but I have definitely done the best with what i had and under the circumstances.
